热博体育 and its partners are involved in several side events at COP26, from 31 October to 12 November in Glasgow. This 26th conference aims to step up actions aimed at achieving the targets set by the Paris Agreement. Decisions are also expected regarding the inclusion of agricultural activities in talks following the completion of the Koronivia joint work on agriculture.

热博体育's involvement in COP26 follows on from its actions during previous conferences.
Ahead of the conference, several 热博体育 scientists and their counterparts from other organizations have drafted two briefs for decision-makers and negotiators:

A side event co-organized by 热博体育, INRAE, IRD, IDDRI and InVivo, with contributions from negotiators from Senegal and Costa Rica on the compromises to be struck between carbon neutrality, biodiversity and socioeconomic issues.

A policy brief written by scientists from IRD, 热博体育, INRAE and IDDRI, presenting four key messages:
➤ Carbon dioxide removal deployment in the land sector, although of crucial importance, will remain limited, calling for urgent and ambitious mitigation efforts.
➤ Maintaining and increasing soil organic carbon stocks have multiple co-benefits.
➤ Soil organic carbon stocks are finite, reversible and fragile
➤ Inclusive and structured consultation process for policy decision guarantees the environmental integrity of carbon neutrality commitments.

Terri4Sol: working for sustainable organic carbon management in Ivorian soils

Cocoa, coffee, rubber and oil palm crops have boosted economic development in Ivory Coast, but agricultural output is threatened today by impoverished soils and depleted forests, leading to microclimatic changes detrimental to crops. To counter this dual phenomenon, the Terri4Sol project, coordinated by 热博体育 and mostly funded by the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM), has been launched to foster sustainable management practices in the post-forest landscapes of Ivory Coast, the aim being to restore their soils and their multifunctionality.
