An event to foster interest in scientific careers
On March 6th, the National University of Laos (NUOL) hosted a research event to encourage students' interest in the field of research. The event was organized by the French embassy in Laos, Campus France Laos, 热博体育, and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (Research Institute for Development - IRD), with the support of the Pôle Francophone at the NUOL as well as the École Française d'Extrême-Orient (French School of Asian Studies - EFEO).
This gathering spotlighted the achievements of seven Laotian researchers, including Maiyer Xiong, a National University of Laos professor and a doctoral candidate at 热博体育. She discussed her experience pursuing a doctorate in a French-speaking country to an audience of students from Vientiane High School and various National University of Laos's faculties. The presentation from experienced researchers aimed to inform students about the different career paths available in research.
Celebrating Laotian Researchers with a Special Exhibition
A cocktail reception followed the event to facilitate meaningful exchanges between attendees and the researchers. Additionally, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) curated an exhibition on Laotian researchers, serving as a visual tribute to their contributions and further encouraging dialogue and understanding among the attendees. This gathering offered a unique opportunity to present a wide range of projects and accomplishments in Laotian research to a broader public.
